Pastor Spence Nix

Spence has been serving as Youth Pastor at Riverside since May of 2008. It is his first staff position in a church. Spence prayed to receive Christ as his savior at 8 years old during a tent revival in Lexington, Ga. Although, he was raised in a strong Christian home it wasn’t until he was 17 that he took seriously his relationship with Christ and began to develop a personal relationship with him. For the next several years, Spence’s Christian walk didn’t develop much due to his lack of commitment to Christ. It was through a crisis situation and the drawing of the Holy Spirit that Spence recommitted his life to Christ in 2005. Since that day, God has really blessed Spence and his family. Following his rededication, Spence began to volunteer in the Youth Ministry here at Riverside. He, also served in many other volunteer roles within the ministries of Riverside. It was through these different roles that God confirmed a call into the vocational ministry. He is continuing his education by currently attending New Orleans Baptist Seminary.  He is thankful for Riverside’s commitment to developing Christian leaders and the opportunity to serve the student ministry at Riverside.

The other aspect of Spence’s life revolves around the wonderful family God has blessed him with. Spence has been married to Amanda for 15 years. She is a wonderful partner in the ministry and sacrificed much in order for Spence to follow his calling into the ministry.  They have two children together. Elizabeth is 12 and Evan is 7.
